J's Signature, Ogeyi Place, Golden Tulip, Villa Toscana & Pearl Paradise Lead Winners as SSHCA Set for September 25th - 26th in Port Harcourt

 


PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State, September 10, 2026 — Organizers of the Stars of the South Hospitality Conference & Awards 2026 have unveiled the full list of Stars of the South Hospitality Awards winners for this year’s edition, as the conference is set to hold on September 25th and 26th at the Golden Tulip Garden City Hotel, Port Harcourt. 

The Stars of the South Hospitality Conference Awards Port Harcourt is themed, ‘Leadership Mastery in Hospitality: Developing Managerial Skills and Maintaining Operational Excellence – Strategies for Star Managers’. The wards  themed “The Platinum Standard”, seek to recognize outstanding hotels, individuals, and hospitality facilities across the South-East and South regions of Nigeria for excellence in service quality, staff professionalism, and operational consistency.

Mr. Renn Offor, Chief Executive Officer of Stars of the South Hospitality Limited and convener of the awards, said winners were selected after nominations from industry professionals and members of the traveling public, followed by a 9-point evaluation covering cleanliness, facilities, technology, design, value for money, location, and guest ratings.

“These are properties where every guest interaction reflects warmth, competence, and pride,” Mr. Offor stated. “They turn hospitality into a craft and strengthen the platinum standard we are building across Southern Nigeria.”

Major Regional & Special Recognition

The Stars of the South Hospitality Conference Awards 2026 celebrated excellence across Southern Nigeria, honoring individuals and properties that continue to raise standards in service, innovation, and tourism development.

In the individual categories, Chief Mike Amachree received the Star of The South Legend of Tourism Award 2026 for decades of advocacy, mentorship, and commitment that have shaped tourism across the South. Dr. Ebikaboere Seimodei, GM of Ogeyi Place Hotel Port Harcourt, was named Hotel Personality of the Year 2026 for building Ogeyi Place into a benchmark for operational excellence and guest experience.

Major regional and overall winners included J's Signature Hotel Port Harcourt for Best Hotel Award 2026, Golden Tulip Hotels Port Harcourt as Hotel of the Year, Best Western Plus Hotel at the Oxbow Lake Yenagoa for Best Luxury Hotel of the Year 2026, and Pearl Paradise Resort Bonny Island as Best Resort 2026. Townplace Hotel & Apartments by Toscana Port Harcourt took Best New Hotel Opening 2026, while Galaxy La Palm Royal Resort Port Harcourt won Best Conference and Event Facilities. Ogeyi Place Hotel Port Harcourt also claimed Best Business Hotel and People’s Choice / Legacy Hotel 2026 for Rivers State.

Rivers State dominated several categories. J's Signature Hotel won Best Hotel and Best Luxury Hotel in Rivers State. Pearl Paradise Resort was recognized as the state’s premier leisure destination and Best Resort. Other Rivers winners included Townplace Hotel & Apartments for Best New Hotel Opening, Galaxy La Palm for Best Conference and Event Facilities, Ogeyi Place for Best Business Hotel and People’s Choice / Legacy Hotel, Villa Toscana Luxe for Best Full-service Hotel, Reens Suites & Apartments for Best New Upcoming Boutique Hotel, and JuliRose Hotel and Suites UNIPort Choba for Best Hospitality Growth and Community Impact.

In Delta State, Best Western Plus Elomaz Hotel Asaba won Best City Hotel and Best Business Hotel. Diamond Den Hotel & Suites was named Best New Hotel, Protea Hotel by Marriott Warri took Best Luxury Hotel, and Grande Candor Exclusive Hotel Warri won Best Boutique Hotel.

Bayelsa State, winners included Matho Crystal Hotel Yenagoa for Best Emerging Boutique Hotel, Ebiis Hotel Yenagoa for Best Budget Hotel, Aridolf Hotel Yenagoa as Rising Star Hotel for rapid growth, and Brownwood Hotel Yenagoa for Best New Upcoming Hotel.

In Edo State, Greyfield Hotel Benin City won Best Boutique Hotel, Emiez Apartment and Hotel took Best Guest Experience, Joker Hotel & Suites won Best Business Hotel, and Vertus Hotel and Suites was named Best City Hotel. Protea Hotel Benin City Select Emotan was Hotel of the Year, while St. Regis Hotels and Resorts Benin City won Best Luxury Hotel.

Imo State honorees were Gravity Hotel Ltd Owerri for Best Luxury Hotel, MCDons Sky Hotel & Resort Owerri for Best City Hotel, and Tripod By Pedestal Hotel Owerri for Best Hospitality Growth Initiative.

In Anambra State, recognized Golden Tulip by Crown Prince for Best New Hotel Opening, Geneva Continental Hotel for Best City Hotel, Max B Continental Hotels for Best Business Hotel, San Antonio Blu Hotels Awka for Best Boutique Hotel, and Golden Tulip Krypton Villa for Best Luxury Hotel.

In Abia State, Ibiza Hotel & Resorts Aba won Best Boutique Hospitality Experience, Panyu Hotel & Resort Aba took Most Innovative Hotel Concept for its creative design, and Ibom Waterfall Resort & Suites Arochukwu was awarded Best Green, Sustainable Hotel.

Enugu State, saw Carlton Swiss Grand Hotel Enugu named Best Full-service Hotel in South East Nigeria. Other winners were Wells Royale Hotel for Best Business Hotel, Andover Hotel Independence Layout for Best City Hotel, and Landmark Nike Lake Resort for Best Event/Conference Venue.

Cross River State, winners included The Metropolitan Hotel Calabar for Best City Hotel South Nigeria, Gemba Hotel & Resort for Best Boutique Hotel, Monty Suites Calabar for Best Serviced Apartments and Value for Money, Obudu Centurion Hotel Calabar for Best Luxury Retreat, and Obudu Mountain Resort for Best Tourist Destination Hotel.

In Akwa Ibom State, Monty Suites Uyo won Best Business Travel Hotel for its service to corporate guests, while Four Points by Sheraton Ikot Ekpene was named Best Business Hotel in the state.


The awards spotlighted a new generation of hotels and hospitality leaders across the South, underscoring growth in luxury, business, and sustainable tourism in the region.
