HMC Owerri 2023 showcase High Level Networking, Top Brass individuals in hospitality businesses in Nigeria

The much awaited Hotel Managers Conference Owerri 2023 held over the weekend on a high note as high level networking among managers with the top brass in the hotel and hospitality business in Nigeria flourished at the event.

The opening of the conference was graced by Dr. Elias Martins Emedom, Commissioner for Ministry of Social Welfare and Sanitation, Imo State. Other VIPs present at the official commencement of the Hotel Managers Conference Owerri 2023 includes Professor Wasiu Babalola, Dr. Belinda Nwosu of Lagos Business School, Dr. Eric Mekwuye, Founder, Hospitality Business School Lagos; Dr. Belinda Nwosu, HRM Lagos Business School; Dr. Michael Pinder, GM Ogeyi Place PH Rivers State State; Dr. Omopeju Afanu, CEO Cooperhouse Hospitality; Alhaji Gbenga Sunmonu, National President, Nigerian Institute of Hospitality and Catering Institute and Mr. Elui Uzochukwu, Chairman, Old English Group.

Mr. Olugbenga Sunday, who is the Chairman and Convener, Hotel Managers Conference Owerri 2023, revealed the impact of the presence of the industry top brass as an evidence of endorsement by the best in the hospitality even as he celebrated the value of the high level networking that transpired during and that would continue after the conference.

Interestingly, the four individuals were honored with Icon of Hospitality Awards this year. These four individuals have together put in a combined experience about 120 years in the hotel and hospitality industry with an average of over 3 decades of intensive and extensive services for each recipient in the Hospitality industry in Nigeria and beyond.

Mr. Olatunde Olaitan Oluloye, a man among the first generation of top hospitality managers in Nigeria and the Managing Partner, Patterson Dove Hospitality; Mr. Ini Akpabio, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nanet Hotels Abuja, FCT, Nigeria and the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Hotels Management and Tourism Board; Dr. Ebikaboere Seimodei, Technical Adviser on Hospitality and Tourism, Bayelsa State Government and first indigenous female Director of Operations at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, and Mr. Adedayo Olaolu Adesugba, who has put in almost 40 years in the hospitality industry.

“The Icon of Hospitality Nigeria Award is a lifetime legacy award and the highest award to be conferred on any individual by the Hotel Managers Conference and Awards Nigeria. It is specifically conferred on individuals and organizations whose work in the hotel and hospitality business in Nigeria have greatly impacted the industry and contributed to national development”.

“Recall that Dr. Michael Pinder, current General Manager at Ogeyi Place Hotel Port Harcourt, Briton, was the first person to receive the award in October 2022”, Mr. Gbenga revealed.

“This award is conferred on these four distinguished individuals based on their outstanding careers in hotel Management which their records over the years through their tireless efforts in the hotel and hospitality space in Nigeria and Africa, sustaining international standards and maintaining excellence in hotels they managed and projects executed’, Mr. Gbenga emphasized.

Aside the Icon of Hospitality recipients, the organizers have unveiled an A-list VIPs of hospitality and business heavyweights who added substance, weight, flavor and class to the event.
