Hotel Managers Award 2022: Eko Hotel, Best Western Plus Elomaz Hotel, Continent Hotel, Golden Tulip, Swiss Spirit, La Campagne, Ibom ICON, Premier Hotel, Genesis and others win big

Award Committee of the Hotel Managers Awards, under the Chairmanship of Justina Ovat, have announced winners for the maiden awards which have seen top hotels in Nigeria emerged winners of the maiden Hotel Managers Awards which would be held during the 4th Hotel Managers Conference on the 14th & 15th July at the Swiss Spirit Hotel & Suites Danag, 79 Stadium Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The award Night will hold on the Friday 15th July by 7.00 PM at same venue. The award ceremony is a black tie//traditional attire event.

The HMC awards is part of the Hotel Managers Conference and the awards specifically targets to recognize, celebrate and promote outstanding hotels who in their quest for excellence and satisfaction of clients needs have gone the extra mile to set lofty standards for themselves and have impressed and continue to satisfy customers.

Winners are Golden Tulip Hotel Port Harcourt, which emerges as the Best Luxury Boutique Hotel in Nigeria while Eko Hotel & Suites Lagos emerged the Most Popular Hotel Nigeria as the Most Luxurious Hotel Destination in Nigeria went to Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja. Ogeyi Place Hotel emerged Best Digital Hotel in Nigeria.

Continent Hotel Akure wins Best Customers friendly Hotel in Nigeria, Best Luxury Lifestyle Hotel in Nigeria went to Echelon Heights Hotel & Suites while the Best Business Hotel went to De Edge Hotel Port Harcourt. Casoni International Hotel & Suites won the Best City Business Hotel while Oxygen Holiday Resorts Owerri emerged winner for the Best HMC Friendly/Partner Hotel in Nigeria. Best Boutique Hotel in Nigeria went to 649 Suites Asaba, Delta State while Ibom ICON wins Best Holiday Hotel in Nigeria

The Longest Serving/Sustainable Hotel in Nigeria went to Premier Hotel Ibadan, Oyo State while the Best NGO Patronized Hotel in Nigeria went Best Western Plus Elomaz Hotel Asaba, Delta State. Other awards and their winners Genesis Hotels Group for Best indigenous Hotel Chain and Best Eco-Friendly Hotel went to Bristol Palace Hotel Kano. The award for the Best Resort Hotel in Nigeria went to La Campagne Tropicana Beach Resort, Ikegun, Lagos State.

Organizers of the Hotel Managers Conference 2022.

The partnerships cut across several top hotel groups and hospitality brands for the annual Conference for hotel owners, investors and Managers of hospitality outfits and hotels in Nigeria and Africa.

This year’s Hotel Managers Conference runs with the theme: ‘Profitability and Growth’. The Conference will hold on the 14th & 15th July at the Swiss Spirit Hotel & Suites Danag, 79 Stadium Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

‘We have been so wowed by the acceptance, patronage, support, commitment and encouragement we have received from various quarters and brands, said Mr. Olugbenga Omotayo Sunday, Chief Executive Officer and Convener of the Hotel Managers Conference.

Carrying along the Nigerian Hotels Association Rivers State Chapter, this is the 4th edition of the Hotel Managers Conference and it is an important conference for Hotels and Hospitality Managers operating within West Africa and Africa. Hotel owners, Hospitality Consultants, General Managers, heads of department, managers of Hospitality related businesses; eateries, restaurants, recreation and clubs; and they are privileged to meet with Hospitality experts with global relevance and to draw timely knowledge for professional exploits for their organizations.

Speaking about the Conference, Mr. Sunday explained that, ‘The Hotel Managers Conference was born out of the passion and drive to improve the performance of hotel Managers in Africa.”

Continuing, he said, “Every success a hotel achieves rests heavily on the brilliant strategies and effective administrative coordination by the managers. Today, like it has continued to be, there is a big gap between International Hospitality brands and Indigenous brands both in administrative and general operations standards.”

“The Hotel Managers Conference becomes more pertinent as hotels, the worst hit sector during the Covid-19 pandemic, struggle to rebound and cover lost grounds occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, as restrictions are gradually relaxed and the hospitality industry is eager to return,” he explained further.

Last year’s edition witnessed attendance of about 200 hotel Managers from hotels across the six geopolitical regions of Nigeria converged on Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

For this year’s Hotel Managers Conference focusing on the theme of “Hotel Profitability & Growth”, several world-class hospitality practitioners and consultants have been lined up as speakers.

 The speakers are: MR. ADEDAYO ADESUGBA (FIH (UK), FNHCI, FITPN, FTHC), who is the CEO of Nexus318 Hospitality Management & Investment Co. Ltd; BENEDICTA G. OGAR, an accomplished Hospitality Business Consultant; TREVOR J WARD, a specialist consultant in the hospitality and real estate industries and DR. MRS. EBIKABOERE SEIMODEI (FITPN, ICCA) who is an experienced professional in the hospitality industry.

Others are MR. VICTOR OLANREWAJU KAYODE who is currently the Group General Manager of Etal Concepts Limited, Owners of 160 Bedrooms Etal Hotels & Halls in Apapa and Oregun, both in Lagos; Prof Wasiu Babalola who is the first Professor of Hotel management & Tourism in Nigeria and also the host of MHC 2022 and Justina Ovat (Mrs), President of Women in Hospitality Nigeria as Co-host.
