African Travel Commission Revives, Repositions To Sell Africa To The World

After a 45-year hiatus, the African Travel Commission (ATC) has been revived and repositioned to promote intra-Africa travel and tourism activities; as well as, to the rest of the world.  This was made known by Mr. Lucky Onoriode George, Executive Director of ATC, who says that Africa has now finally found its voice following the revival of the once-powerful continental body that helped shape global tourism activities between 1965 and 1975. According Mr. George, ATC  initially established in 1965, and operated up to 1975 was to function just like the European Travel Commission (ETC) shortly after  many African countries gained independence from colonial powers and started running their own affairs as sovereign nations. Nigeria's Airport Authority begins installation of Check in and Screening Equipment, appeals for Understanding

In a bid to address recent challenges in airport operations and facilitation management systems at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja respectively, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to inform airlines, passengers and other stakeholders that the equipment required for addressing these challenges have arrived Nigeria and are already being installed. Also, additional 15 security screening machines have been procured for immediate deployment to the General Aviation Terminal and Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. They are also been installed already. The Authority is using this opportunity to appeal to all stakeholders to please bear with us while the installation would last, as all hands are on deck to ensure speedy completion of the project.

Nkereuwem Onung emerges New FTAN President

Mr Nkereuwem Onung, the chairman of Remlords Tours and Car Hire Services, has emerged the president Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, FTAN. With a landslide victory, Onung emerged winner with 71 votes over his challenger Otunba Ayo Olumoko who secured 22 votes at the Federation election held today, Thursday July 8th at RockView Hotel, Abuja. Onung is the former president of Nigerian Association of Tour Operators NATOP and its BOT chairman. He was the immediate past acting president of FTAN, taking over after the untimely death of Alhaji Rabo Karim Seleh in active service. Onung is a former banker before venturing into tour and car hire business.
